With much enthusiasm and excitement, the third Annual College Week, 2023-2024 of Government Model College, Deithor, was held from 23rd January to 27th January, 2024. Students from higher secondary and under graduate level had participated in all the events of the college week. It includes sports, cultural and literary competitions. It must be noted that four other events namely Mehandi competition, Food Competition, Rangoli Competition, and waste material competitions were organized under the portfolio of Secretary, Girls’ Common room, Government Model College, Deithor Students’ Union 2023-24 (GMCDSU) from 23rd January to 26th January, 2024. In addition to those competitions, some innovative events like Traditional Costumes competition, Cultural Rally Competition and Go as You Like etc. have been introduced where participation and responses of the students were overwhelming.
As part of the inauguration of the College Week, 2024, Dr. Dipok Kumar Bora, the hon’ble principal of the college hoisted the college flag at the ceremonial arena within the college premises in the presence of the teachers and students. On his speech at the occasion, the principal encouraged the student participants to take part in all the events wholeheartedly for the holistic development of every student. President of the Governing Body of Government Model College, Deithor, Padmashri Dhaneswar Engti graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Following the speech of the GB president and principal’s address, the General Secretary of GMCDSU Mr. Amor Singh Kro lit the Olympic lamp.Following the inaugural ceremony all the events were held according to the scheduled dates and time at the college premises.
The 3rd Annual College Week came to conclusion with the Closing Ceremony held on 27/01/2024 at the open stage of the college. Padmashri Dhaneswar Engti graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In that ceremony, Mr. Hemanta Saikia, the president, Marangi Press Club and Mr. Priyangdweep Kakoti, the general secretary, Marangi Press Club and Mr. Mangal Singh Singnar, renowned Karbi Cultural icon attended the ceremony as invited Guests. Mr. Jaanmoni Dutta, Senior Correspondent at ‘The Assam Talks’, Mr. Rupam Saikia, Senior Correspondent, ‘The News Plus’ had also graced the occasion. The meeting was chaired by the principal, Government Model College, Deithor (GMCD). In the same ceremony, awards/ trophies/ certificates were distributed to the winners of various events. The programme was anchored by Dr. Hemanta Sarmah Tamuly, Assistant Professor, Department of English, GMCD.
