Department of Assamese

The Department of Assamese of Government Model College, Deithor was started in the year 2020 at the same year the college was founded. As a new department, it has been aiming at the intellectual as well as socio-cultural development of students. This Department is working on the development of the Assamese language, literature and culture. Since its establishment, there are three faculty members for both Higher Secondary and BA (honours) courses. The faculties encourage students to read different genres of literature, different branches of language and culture. Students are also encouraged to acquire knowledge of the world literature and culture rather than confine themselves in narrow boundaries. Apart from curriculum this department also aims to create awareness among the students as well as general people on the preservation of their own language and culture.
