Department Profile
The Department of Sociology, Government Model College, Deithor was started with the establishment of the college i.e., in the year 2020. Since its establishment, the department has offered programmes at Higher Secondary and Undergraduate levels. At the UG level, the department has offered both BA (Hons.) and BA (Non-Hons.) programmes. The placement of the college at Deithor which is right at the juncture of both Karbi Anglong and Golaghat districts provides a rich field of study for the department. At the same time, this geographical placement also opens up numerous possibilities for the department to intervene and collaborate at the societal level. As a nascent department that is less than three years old, the Department of Sociology, Government Model College, Deithor is still strengthening its roots with an aim to contribute to the development of its students, the college and the surrounding community in a productive manner.
