I consider it a great honour to serve as the founder Principal of Government Model College, Deithor established in 2020 by the Higher Education Department, Government of Assam. Situated amongst the mesmerizing tea gardens near Numaligarh, Government Model College, Deithor’s lush green vicinity pumps positivity and liveliness among the young minds leading to the inclusive development of every individual.As the state of Assam is characterized by a plethora of artistic medium, ranging from dance, music, art, theatre and several festivals, and all of them add uniquely to the composite culture of the state, so also this educational institution too is set up in the light of these values as it is located between two culturally diverse districts – Karbi Anglong and Golaghat. The college shines with the vibrancy of such assimilation be it in the glory of Bihu, Karbi Festivals, Baisagu, Ali- aye- ligang or bhai duj!
Government Model College, Deithor is the only Government Model College in the Sixth Schedule District, Karbi-Anglong, to start using its permanent campus in 2021 just one year after its commencement. Since GMC, Deithor is a new and upcoming institute, fresh ideas are welcomed with great enthusiasm and contoured to perfection. Considering the future prospects of the National EducationPolicy (NEP 2020), the College is also going to introduce a few self-finance skill development and vocational courses to create alternative career options for the students.
The college got approval from AHSEC and Dibrugarh University for the Examination Centre respectively for Higher Secondary and B.A.The academic culture here includes comprehensive study as well as proper application of knowledge to solve real-world problems. Many webinars and workshops are organized by different departments with the aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of the students. We firmly believe that the excellence displayed by the students today will be reflected in their professions tomorrow. I would like to welcome all the students to this institution with the expectation that the younger generation with their energy can play a pivotal role in the rapid development of any country.
